Hello to everyone! It's my first post here! My name is Lyubmil, I was born in Pleven (Bulgaria), and now I am living in the capital - Sofia!

I find your forum very well made, structured and the most of all - useful for everyone who is interested in the field of the public transport!!!
Actually I have been wanted to join that forum for a long time, but during the registration I always mistakenly pushed the button "under 13 years"!

However! Now I am going to share some news about the trolleybus-transport of Pleven. Unfortunately - bad news!

On June, 09. this year trolleybus Nr: 119 is finally stopped and scraped. So the local company Trolejbusni prewozi has already only 69 units.
Also in the beginning of May this year the municipality decided to replace some of the vehicles on the main trolleybus-routes by buses, run by private companies. The formal reason is that the buses are low-flour and this decision is made in order to facilitate the disabled people use the public transport. However in fact the local trolleybus company has been profitable yet moreover in compare with the similar operators in the over Bulgarian towns which have to be subsidized by the town's municipalities. It has been able to maintain the trolley-park by own resources and to run vehicles in facilitate good conditions. Even the ticket-price of the buses which run the trolleybus-routes is cheaper 0,60 BGN (0,30 EUR) in compare to 0,70 (0,35EUR) of the trolleys!

Until now around 90% of the public transport has been electric! Now - appr. 80%

All of this makes many people think that the trolleybuses in Pleven and the future of the whole trolley-network are in trouble.
I hope it is not the case!

Welcome to the forum.

The mayor of Plevna said that the municipality will obtain the european funds to develop the trolleybus network and acquire new units.

In Pleven are in service only ZIU trolleys?

Yes, it's true! All the trolleybuses are ZiU 9, made in the years between 1985 and 1988.

Bulgaria's Pleven seeks to buy 10 trolleybuses for estimated 4.7 mln euro - TED

Bulgarian municipally-owned company Troleibusen Transport has opened a tender for the supply of ten trolleybuses worth an estimated 9.3 million levs ($5.7 million/4.7 million euro) to serve the population of the city of Pleven, a notice in the EU’s procurement journal indicated on Tuesday.

The project is financed with EU funds under operational programme Regional Development 2007-2013, the notice published in the Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) showed.

No details were disclosed.

Pleven is located in northern Bulgaria.
(1 euro=1.95583 Bulgarian levs)

Un sistem modern de transport eficient si ecologic. Sa vina la Plevna sa il vada cei din Plovdiv, Pernik, Dobrich, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Kazanlak, Shumen si alti neispraviti ce au distrus troleibuzele din orasele lor.
