Se spera ca in vara acestui an vom vedea tramvaie in Maroc. Pt. Rabat - Sale, fiind vorba de doua trasee, cu lungimea de 19 km si 31 statii.

On 30 March, dynamic tests of the Citadis tram destined for the transport network in Rabat-Sale, the first city in Morocco to install a modern tram system, started.

The goal is to test the interface between the rolling stock, the catenary system and the track. Traction, braking and speed performance will also be verified. Testing will be conducted along the entire network as construction is completed and will involve each of the Citadis trainsets. The agreement signed in May 2008 calls for final delivery during the first quarter of 2011.

To date, 1,382 Citadis trams have been ordered by 34 cities worldwide. Citadis units have travelled over 35 million km and carried more than 500 million passengers since 2000.

Revenue service will start on May 23, after three days of free rides. Alstom Citadis trams will initially work all 21 stops on Line 1, from Madinat Al Irfane to Hay Karima, and part of Line 2 between Hassan II and Bab Chellah. Services will operate between 07.00 and 21.00 on weekdays and 07.00 and 13.00 on Saturdays, with trams running every 15 to 17 min on Line 1 and every 30 min on Line 2. A single fare will cost 7 dirhams.

The remaining five stops on the 2,5 km section of Line 2 from Bab Chellah to Hopital Moulay Youssef should open at the end of June. Operator Transdev will then run daily services at 10 min intervals between 06.00 and 23.00. The full fleet of 44 Citadis trams, working as 19 married pairs and six single units, is due to be in service by summer 2011.

The 19,5 km network has cost 3,5bn dirhams to build, financed 50% by AAVB and 50% from European sources. The six-year operation and maintenance contract awarded to Transdev is worth 792m dirhams.

Northern extensions of Line 1 to Avenue des FAR and Line 2 to the Institut Superieur de Recherche Scientifique are expected to open in 2013. A four-line network is ultimately envisaged.

Reţeaua de tramvai construită între capitala Marocului, Rabat şi oraşul învecinat, Salé, este deservită de tramvaie CITADIS, livrate de ALSTOM. Tramvaiele au fost asamblate la uzinele ALSTOM din Reichshoffen, în Franţa. Tramvaiele au fost livrate în două variante constructive.
    6 tramvaie sunt bidirecţionale, cu posturi de conducere la ambele capete, cu podea coborâtă integral, constituite din cinci module. Au o lungime de 32 de metri şi o capacitate totală de 270 pasageri.
      38 de tramvaie sunt bidirecţionale, cu un singur post de conducere, cu podea coborâtă integral, constituite din cinci module. Acestea circulă în perechi (19 perechi), cuplate permanent în sistem "back-to-back (spate la spate)". O pereche astfel formată are o lungime de 60 de metri şi o capacitate totală de 500 pasageri.
        Reţeaua cuprinde 20 km de linie de tramvai şi 31 de staţii.
          Traficul estimat prin proiect este de 180 de mii de pasageri pe zi.
