In anii '80 a inceput construirea unei noi cai ferate, ce urma sa lege Valea Oltului de Valea Jiului. Noua linie urma sa porneasca din Babeni si sa mearga pana la Tg. Carbunesti. Lucrarile s-au desfasurat concomitent cu cele pentru linia Valcele - Rm. Valcea, asemanarile fiind evidente intre cele 2 sectii. In 1987 a fost data in folosinta linia Babeni-Alunu, concomitent cu capatul de Vest al ,,viitoarei" linii Babeni - Tg. Carbunesti, adica Tg. Carbunesti - Albeni - Seciuri. In viitor urma a fi executata legatura intre Alunu si Seciuri. In vederea acestei legaturi s-a forat un tunel la Seciuri, singura ,,piedica" in calea deschiderii liniei fiind o vale ce necesita construirea unui viaduct. Evenimentele din '89 au dus la sistarea lucrarilor si aici, ca si pe celelalte cai ferate in constructie la momentul respectiv. Ulterior, s-au continuat lucrarile la Valcele - Rm. Valcea (dar o dam in off-topic), insa pe Babeni - Alunu s-au facut doar lucrari minore de stabilizare a solului, nici vorba de construirea unui viaduct nou. In prezent, valea ce trebuia ,,acoperita" cu un viaduct a fost umpluta cu steril de la exploatarea miniera Alunu. De altfel, exploatarile miniere de la Alunu si Berbesti sunt singurul motiv pentru care linia 205 este inca functionala. Daca acestea nu ar fi existat, linia ar fi avut probabil soarta unor linii precum Dangeni - Saveni, Bucuresti Progresu - Gradistea, Poiana Slanic - Slanic, Gura Putnei - Nisipitu, Valcele - Rm. Valcea, Oradea - Baile Felix, Rogoz - Dobresti inchise din cauza calamitatilor naturale, chiar daca avariile puteau fi usor remediate. Pentru ca am tot vorbit de ,,viitoarea" linie Babeni - Tg. Carbunesti, pe portiunea Tg. Carbunesti - Albeni - Seciuri, se circula doar intre Tg. Carbunesti si Albeni, restul liniei fiind inchisa din cauza alunecarilor de teren (si, implicit, a numeroaselor furturi ce au rezultat dupa aceea).

Sa revenim la Babeni-Alunu. Dupa cum spuneam, linia, cu o lungime de 41km, este grav afectata in fiecare an de alunecari de teren. Din aceasta cauza (si ca urmare a economiei de materiale din perioada in care a fost construita) s-a ajuns ca timpul de parcurgere al sectiei sa creasca de la 70 de minute in 2001 la 130 in 2009. Necesitatea transportarii carbunelui mentine activa aceasta sectie.
In ceea ce priveste traficul de calatori, in prezent, pe sectia 215 circula doar 2 perechi de trenuri personale, dupa cum puteti vedea in atasament.
Desigur, calatori s-ar gasi daca orarul ar fi mai bine pus la punct, tinand cont ca aceeasi distanta se parcurge cu duba cam intr-o ora si 30 de minute din cauza starii proaste a drumurilor si a faptului ca acestea sunt foarte serpuite. Insa legaturile cu Rm. Valcea sunt ca si inexistente, tinand cont ca e nevoie minim 30 de minute de stationare in Babeni.

Sectia numara 6 statii si halte, dupa cum urmeaza: Babeni, Sirineasa h., Popesti valcea Hm., Cernisoara h., Copaceni Hm., Berbesti si Alunu.

Pe 23 August 2007 am pornit impreuna cu MariusM cu P2831 (Babeni 7:05 - Alunu 9:15) spre Alunu si ne-am intors cu P 2834 (Alunu 9:40 - Rm. Valcea 12:25) - ambele trenuri fiind anulate acum catvea saptamani de foarte (in)competentul ministru al transporturilor.

La 8 km (20 de minute de mers) de Babeni se afla prima oprire din traseu, Sirineasa h.. O fosta halta de miscare, micul punct de oprire este acum lasat prada hotilor.

Ne continuam apoi drumul spre Popesti Valcea Hm.. Peisajul - desi nu se compara cu cel de pe Oravita - Anina - este deosebit, linia fiind plasata destul de ,,in mijlocul naturii".

Pozitia liniei (paralela cu muntii si, implicit, cu Subcarpatii) a impus construirea a numeroase lucrari de arta - viaducte si tunele. Primul viaduct important se gaseste inainte de Popesti Valcea:

Deja incepem sa vedem semnalul de intrare in Popesti Valcea Hm.. Aici este folosita semanlizarea mecanica, semnalizare care este perfect functionala, cantoanele de intrare si iesire fiind si ele functionale si deservite de personalul corespunzator. Practic, gara are mai multi angajati decat calatori in tren :lol: (si se mai mira ca merg in pierdere), in vreme ce sectii/portiuni de sectii mult mai importante sunt nesemnalizate si se circula doar pe baza de ordin de miscare. Imi vine in minte portiunia Crivadia - Merisor de pe Valea Jiului.
Dupa semanlul de intrare ajungem in Popesti Valcea Hm.. Aici stau si cateva utilaje de intretinere a caii ferate. Dintre liniile statiei, rar sunt folosite mai mult de 2. Cei 9 km care desparte Sirineasa h. de Popesti Valcea Hm. au fost parcursi in... 30 de minute.

Pe masura ce ne apropiem de zonele cu dealuri mai inalte putem observa si ceva lucrari de stabilizare facute mai mult sau mai putin bine.

Intram in primul tunel al sectiei, Grosi, finalizat in 1985 si avand o lungime de 725 m. Atasez si o poza din 1987 cu portalul dinspre Babeni, imaginea fiind preluata de pe http://www.tunele.ro/ro/portofoliu/constructii.php .

Imediat dupa tunel, linia devine inconjurata de vegetatie densa, vegetatie ce o protejaza de influenta pasarilor daunatoare culturilor agricole care ravnesc la fier vechi. In aceasta padurice gasim si halta Cernisoara. Am parcurs ultimii 4 km (de la Popesti valcea la Cernisoara) in 20 de minute (!). Mai avem cam 70 de minute pana la Alunu.

Dupa Cernisoara linia iese pentru putin timp din padure, fiind plasata pe un rambleu destul de subred.

Urmatoarea statie este Copaceni Hm., 6 km (si 30 de minute!) mai departe.

Ne continuam drumul prin padure... deja, deorece trenul coboara in continuu de la Cernisoara, mentinerea vitezei de 10 - 15 km/h devine destul de dificila, insa mecanicul LDHului care ne trage stie sa foloseasca eficient frana pneumatica, fara a ne arunca de pe scaune.

Linia descrie o larga curba la stanga, prin urmare putem vedea unul din viaductele ce urmeaza a le traversa. Se poate observa si faptul ca linia inca tinde sa coboare.

Pana sa ajungem la acel viaduct, traversam un altul. Se pare ca balustradele din beton armat au fost foarte tentante pentru hoti.

Vedem si semnalul prevestitor al statiei Copaceni. Desigur, intre el si semnalul de intrare nu putea sa nu fie prezent un... viaduct :lol:

Copaceni Hm. este si ea ,,dotata" cu toti angajatii necesari functionarii ireporsabile a unei gari si cu semnalizare mecanica functionala. Din nou avem de-a face cu o gara cu mai multi angajati decat numarul de calatori din trenuri.

Nu zabovim mai mult de 1 minut la Copaceni si pornim agale spre Berbesti. Trecem incet peste macazele de iesire, trecem de semnalul de iesire si ne continuam drumul. Mai avem 9 km si 25 de minute pana la Berbesti.

Vedem prevestitorul statiei Berbesti si imediat ne intalnim si cu linia de la exploatarea miniera. Trecem peste macaz si ,,admiram" niste vagoane tip Fals abandonate.

Ajungem in Berbesti, gara maricica si cu tot ce-i trebuie. Semnalizarea mecanica este functionala. Prin gara mai sunt cateva vagaone tip Fals (vagoanele Fals sunt destinate transportului carbunelui).

Orasul Berbesti are 5704 locuitori. Tot aici se afla una dintre cele mai importante exploatari de suprafata a lignitului.

Plecam mai departe spre Alunu. Mai avem doar 5km, ce vor fi parcursi in 15 minute. Linia continua sa coboare.
