Balcic (Balchik, Балчик), este un orasel situat pe tarmul Marii Negre, in Bulgaria, la circa 60 de km de Vama Veche. Intre anii 1913 - 1940 a apartinut Romaniei, in urma celui de al doilea razboi balcanic (iunie - august 1913). In 1940, Cadrilaterul, inclusiv Balcicul, a fost redobandit de Bulgaria.

In Balcic se afla celebrul Castel (Cuibul linistit), resedinta preferata a Reginei Maria a Romaniei, inconjurat de o la fel de celebra gradina botanica unicat in Europa centrala si de est, in special datorita colectiei de cactusi.

Pentru mult timp orasul a fost supranumit Orasul Alb, din cauza dealurilor albicioase din jur. De altfel, intregului tarm i s-a spus, din aceleasi motive, Coasta de Argint. In prezent, brosurile din Bulgaria care prezinta orasul il numesc perla litoralului bulgaresc.

Balcicul are o istorie bogata, putindu-se observa si astazi urmele multor culturi. A fost creat acum aproximativ 2.600 de ani, fiind un succesor al localitatii trace Kruni si al orasului grecesc antic Dionissopolis.

Doua atractii turistice importante, aflate in relativa apropiere, sunt Capul Kaliakra, situat la circa 35 de kilometri distanta, si oraselul Nessebar, ceva mai departe - circa 120 de kilometri. Si, desigur, mult mai aproape, se afla salba de statiuni turistice, printre care se numara Albena si Nisipurile de Aur.

O sa va prezint fotografii ce le-am realizat anul trecut, in speranta ca va voi convinge sa vizitati aceste locuri minunate.

Am plecat din Albena.
